Hiking & Biking

On of the best ways to experience Yap is to hike through Yap’s tropical splendor along some of ancient Stone Paths on a full or half day guided tour.

Here you will see the lush flora, fauna and birds that inhabit our unspoiled tropical paradise. This is a must for those who really want to appreciate the beauty of our little island.

You can get a little exercise and see another side of Yap on one of our Mountain Bikes available for rental at the Activities Center. Just off the paved roads lies a network of small roads and lanes that pass through small villages and open onto isolated beaches.

World War II Relics and Aviation Ruins

Explore the ruins of WWII aircraft wreckage (bullet-riddled Zero fighter planes, anti-aircraft guns and Japanese Air Force fighters) that dot the tropical jungle surrounding the old military airport. Our local tour guide will share interesting background knowledge on the Japanese Occupation of Yap, as well as the effect of WWII on the island and its culture.
